Product Description CHEM C500 takes you on an introductory tour through seven central areas in chemistry with more than 30 classic experiments. Learn about reactions between solids, liquids, and gases. Discover the colorful effects of acids and bases. Perform astonishing “magic” tricks for your friends.
Investigate metals and salts in electrochemical experiments with a 9-volt battery (not included). Learn for yourself how chemistry goes far beyond textbooks and laboratories, to explain occurrences that happen around us every day. The 32-page, full-color experiment manual gives simple instructions for setting up and performing each experiment, and then clear explanations of what happened and why.
This kit is ideal for children who are interested in chemistry but who are not yet ready for a more advanced chemistry set. It serves as an excellent introduction to the other kits in our CHEM line. Ages 8 and up.
For those familiar with our CHEM C101 kit, this kit is similar in concept, and has been considerably improved. New parts have been added to the kit to make the experiments safer and easier. The manual has been completely overhauled and the box has been redesigned.

| Customer Reviews: Thames & Kosmos Chem Set January 11, 2010 Nannys Stuff (Malakoff, Texas United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
We bought this chemistry set for our 11 year old grandson who is very interested in "how things work". There are sufficient basic experiments to keep him entertained for many hours and to teach him the basic principles he will use in later experiments in science class. He is currently studying at the 8th grade level in chemistry and the product, though a toy, kept his interest. I am very satisfied with our purchase.
Chemistry Kit with 30 experiments January 7, 2009 Mom in NY (Hopewell Jct., NY) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Thames & Kosmos CHEM C500 I bought this for my 7 year old son for Christmas. He put a "Science Kit" on his wishlist and said he wanted to mix things and do experiments. This was perfect. It does need to be done with an adult as the vials are glass and it uses real acids and bases but nothing is dangerous. Great into for kids to learn to love Chemistry.
Good for a brief introduction... June 10, 2009 Jarik25 (TN) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
This kit is C500, and it is good as an introduction to chemistry. However, the sad part is that experiments chemicals only last for the duration of the project. If you want to do them multiple times; you must buy multiple sets!
For kids, or adults just starting out learning the difficulties of Chemistry and its elements or way things work and won't go on after this: Go for this kit!
All expirements work if followed correctly. Some may work better for you if they are poured down a sink rather than followed out in a test tube.
lack on tools with SET January 12, 2009 L. F. Moroni (italy) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Dear Friend,
I have Played with my son age 8 with this Set, and immediately found Missing information and Tools to be able to do experiments. I end up having to by a new set in Italy, and some measuring cups in order to follow .
If you happen to be Italian, for 18 Eoros you can get a very good chemist set from CLEMENTONI.
